This session will explore public interest through the regulator’s lens. Hear common concerns and goals on working in the public interest, what it means, and more importantly, what it should mean.  Learn strategies from the regulatory world on how to structure your organization and make decision on truly working in the public interest, and the importance of communicating this to your stakeholders.

About the Presenter

Deanna Williams is the President of Dundee Consulting Group Ltd., providing consulting and advisory services to regulators of health and non-health professions and occupations in Canada, the US and internationally. She also currently serves as Risk Officer, for the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) in Toronto, Ontario.

She is a licensed pharmacist with experience within Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and in health professional regulation, having led the Ontario College of Pharmacists as its Registrar and as Minister-appointed Supervisor to the College of Denturists of Ontario. In 2010, Deanna’s leadership in professional and occupational regulation was recognized when she became the first recipient of the CLEAR International Award for Regulatory Excellence.

Deanna has served on the Board of Directors of CLEAR and as its first Canadian President; She is a current member of the International Advisory Committee on Pharmacy (Ireland) and Chair of the Board of Haldimand War Memorial Hospital in Dunnville, ON.
